On behalf of the Scenic Group management team and Scenic Eclipse crew, we’d like to share an important update regarding the scheduled dry dock and repairs to one of the ship’s two Azipod Propulsion units.
Scenic Eclipse has completed her recent Americas voyage and will soon arrive at a dry dock in Texas. To ensure the fastest and most efficient operational planning, a replacement Azipod unit is currently on route to the dry dock, to be ready for the engineers to commence the relevant work. Our dedicated Marine engineering team are working closely with ABB Group, who are the suppliers of this advanced Azipod technology. The key objective is for Scenic Eclipse to undergo the replacement, installation, testing and certification of the Azipod system during this period, to ensure the Discovery Yacht is ready to commence the Antarctica season as scheduled.
The team are confident the current planning and significant team effort across the organisation will result in ensuring Scenic Eclipse being fully operational and ready for our first Antarctica voyage, which departs on 27 November 2024.
We apologise again for any disappointment or inconvenience this situation may have caused our valued guests, however, the safety and comfort of all who sail on board the Discovery Yacht remains our priority.
Our captain and crew look forward to welcoming our guests sailing on board Scenic Eclipse for the upcoming Antarctica season to experience the breathtaking pristine and remote southern continent for our fifth season.
